The M3 said we got 20.4 mpg on the trip.
The math says otherwise,
Used 13.069 gallons to travel 245.8 miles so that works out to:
Yeah that’s not 20.4 mpg. VW lying about emissons; BMW, lying about fuel economy.

Always have. The econ meter on my e28 reads about 10% optimistic. There’s a way to reset its gas tank level meter, which affects the econ reading...

I was curious how off it was, I usually never look at it and calculate it based off of mileage and actual fuel usage.

Damn Nibby, that was one fast photoshop. Let's be honest, you wouldn't get an m3, you'd spent the money on a Benz of some sort.

These are always a bit optimistic, at least that has been my experience. The closest one to being accurate was in my 96 V8 explorer of all cars. 13.1mpg all day haha.

I think the one in my dad’s Buick was pretty damn accurate, about the only good thing that car did. My 97 V6 SOHC explorer sport didn’t have an economy gauge, ironaicaly that thing got around the same mileage as my e90.
Since they are usually optimistic, I don't know why people go off them so much for economy, I guess math is hard.

Do 62 MPG

Damn, your M3 sucks on fuel economy. My GTO generally gets around 26-28 mpg on the highway. I can get 34 mpg in 6th going 48. lol
It will go through almost a full tank in one track day though. lol

What does the MDM light mean?

M dynamic mode, it's a traction control setting that's less aggressive, it allows you to slide a little but not too much.
